Evaluate fatigue in your workplace

Fatigue Biomarker Testing

Almost all organizations understand that fatigue in the workforce is troublesome. Missed work, accidents, poor performance, and high turnover all come with considerable costs. Notably, fatigue is also associated with increased healthcare expenditures. You want to get ahead of the problem, but how can you tackle such a big and complicated issue?

The key is objectively measuring fatigue in your workforce. With accurate data on how fatigued people are, you can gain a deeper understanding of where fatigue is occurring in your organization and help your employees get the care they may need to live fuller and more productive lives. With this information, making management decisions that keep fatigue at a lower level is now possible.

WHEN FATIGUE IS A DRAG

Fatigue is normal. Everybody experiences it occasionally–it’s an important signal that tells us to slow down and recover. However, some people may suffer from a persistent fatigue issue. The underlying cause of prolonged high levels of fatigue could be related to physiologic issues that make high quality sleep difficult to obtain. Long commutes and lifestyle can reduce rest too. If someone is struggling consistently with fatigue, there may be a solution at hand that can reduce or eliminate fatigue. Having the tools to identify solutions to fatigue helps organizations to save on costs, retain high quality employees, and improve their quality of life.

PIONEERS IN THE FIELD

Fatigue biomarker testing has its roots in U.S. military research that was initially focused on understanding the effects of fatigue among the ranks of the Army. Hyperion’s own Dr. John Kalns proposed a research study that sought to identify key biomarkers of fatigue from a saliva sample. The study evaluated molecular entities that emerged after subjects performed long periods of endurance training. The result was groundbreaking – for the first time, a pair of novel peptides were found to change significantly in concentration following physical exertion and thus could be utilized as objective measures of fatigue. This incredible finding serves as the foundation for the testing services that we provide today.
